The traditional dishes of Barcelona cuisine

Taste the typical dishes of Barcelona: a unique culinary experience to try during your gastronomic trip. Here, as in all of Spain, one of the most famous and unmissable dishes during a gastronomic trip to these lands is Paella. We also highly recommend trying arroz negro, cooked with squid ink. A typical variant in Barcelona is fideuà, a pasta-based delicacy similar to paella, enriched with seafood.

Try calçots, a variety of sweet onion, grilled and served with a delicious sauce, a Catalan dish not to be missed. A dish derived from the City’s tradition is pan con tomate, simple and tasty, which consists of bread rubbed with ripe tomatoes, olive oil and salt. Barcelona is located on the Mediterranean Sea, and among the dishes of the local cuisine you cannot miss fish: gambas al ajillo (fresh shrimp cooked with garlic, olive oil and chili) and Catalan-style cod, cooked with zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, red and green peppers, onions and the ever-present clove of garlic.

Barcelona also cannot miss the famous Spanish tapas, including patatas bravas, fried potatoes served with a spicy, creamy sauce-an absolute must for finger food lovers. Butifarra amb Mongetes Seques is a typical Catalan dish, which consists of sausage and beans. To top it off, another world-famous specialty is Catalan cream, an irresistible dessert that will captivate your palate with its creamy texture and delicate vanilla flavor.

Barcelona itinerary

Barcelona is a vast city with many centers. The itinerary we propose therefore focuses on the unmissable, but it really has so much to offer, from a cultural, historical, gastronomic and movida point of view!

Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau and Sagrada Familia

Barcelona’s Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau was a hospital for a century. Today the work of architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner is a fascinating attraction that will catapult you into Catalan modernist art and architecture.

One of the symbols of Barcelona is certainly the Sagrada Familia, an icon of modernist architecture designed by Antoni Gaudí. The artist’s idea is to represent sacred images on the outside of the building, along its elaborate facades and majestic towers. Inside, only light should prevail, representing the divine. For this reason, the interior of the cathedral is white, colored by the light that penetrates through the vibrant stained glass windows. The columns are reminiscent of a forest, still reminiscent of nature and eden.

Palau de la Música Catalana and Cat de Fernando Botero

The Palau de la Música Catalana is an architectural gem and a place of great importance to Catalan music and culture. The intricate and colorful details of its modernist facade and columns blend with the magical atmosphere of its concert hall.

Near the Raval neighborhood is a curious statue, the Cat de Fernando Botero. It depicts a cat with the round shapes typical of the artist’s style. It seems to us a worthy representative of FoodTripGo’s gastronomic trip to Barcelona.

Casa Batlló and La Pedrera ( Casa Mila)

Casa Batlló and La Pedrera (Casa Milà) in Barcelona are two outstanding examples of Antoni Gaudí’s architecture. Casa Batlló is characterized by its colorful facade and organic forms inspired by nature. La Pedrera is made special by its extraordinary undulating terraces and striking carved chimineas, representing stone guardians.

These two works of Gaudi are a must-see for lovers of art and architecture while visiting Barcelona. Discover the secrets of these extraordinary works and marvel at Gaudi’s genius as you explore the interiors and panoramic terraces, admiring two of Barcelona’s most iconic masterpieces.

Guell Park and Templo del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus

Park Güell combines art and nature in Barcelona. Gaudi’s works within the park, such as the famous salamander, combine with nature in the picturesque garden. The Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is an imposing religious building atop Tibidabo and offers spectacular panoramic views of the city.

Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic), Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, Santa Eulalia Cathedral and Magic Fountain

Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic) is a fascinating maze of medieval streets and squares. It is home to historic monuments, such as the majestic Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, a masterpiece of Catalan Gothic architecture, the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia, a magnificent Gothic church with its splendid stained glass windows and impressive towers. An iconic attraction in Barcelona is the Magic Fountain show, which offers a light and music show.

La Barceloneta and Las Ramblas

Among Barcelona’s famous nightlife areas is definitely Las Ramblas, with stores, cafes and street performers enlivening this iconic area. Las Ramblas is the beating heart of Barcelona, a place not to be missed during your visit to the Catalan capital. Barceloneta is a perfect destination for lovers of the sea, good food and good aperitifs with sangria by the sea.
